Kindergarten - 3rd Grade

MIssion Statement

The Orono Basketball Association (OBBA) exists to provide boys and girls an opportunity to compete in an environment that emphasizes fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, accountability, good sportsmanship, fun and the development of integrity, responsibility, positive self-esteem and essential life skills.  This mission statement drives our decision-making and policy setting, and we are committed to creating a positive culture in a safe environment, where coaches, parents and athletes work together to achieve our mission.

K-2nd Grade Participants

The K-2 program includes:

  • Reversible jersey
  • OBBA provided basketball
  • Weekly skills sessions that are held on Saturdays from October – February
  • Scrimmage during halftime of varsity basketball game
  • K-2 program fees are $125

3rd Grade Participants

The 3rd grade program includes:

  • Reversible jersey and shorts
  • OBBA provided basketball
  • PRACTICES 2x/week:  Saturday sessions facilitated by a hired basketball trainer and one additional practice facilitated by volunteer parent coaches.  Times/dates/locations to be confirmed in October. Season begins in November and ends in February.
  • TOURNAMENTS: OBBA will register for a few tournaments and will communicate details to parents at the outset of the season.  -Playing in tournaments is OPTIONAL.
    Players are placed on a team by the volunteer parent coaches. The teams are formed as close to parity as possible and may change throughout the season due to availability of players and the needs of the team.
  • Scrimmage during halftime of varsity basketball game
  • KICK OFF MEETING: OBBA will host a parent meeting the first week of November to review the philosophy for this age group, expectations, and tournament dates.
  • COACHES: Parents interested in coaching 3rd grade must have background checks completed.  If interested in coaching, please complete the Coach Application and submit to See Coached tab on website for further information. 
  • 3rd grade program fees are $250
